Family Matching Outfits for Eid and Weddings: A Pakistani Guide

· 4 min read

Ideas for Pakistani family matching outfits for Eid and weddings: mum and daughter, husband and wife, and the whole family. How to coordinate without looking like a uniform, and how to order matching outfits from Pakistan when you live abroad.

Matching family outfits have become one of the sweetest parts of Eid and wedding photos: a mother and daughter in the same print, a husband's kurta picking up the colour of his wife's dupatta, three cousins in the same shade of emerald. Done well, it looks effortless. Done badly, it looks like a school trip.

Here's how Pakistani families coordinate their outfits, and how to get them made when you're ordering from abroad.

Mum and daughter

The easiest and most popular match.

Tip: children grow fast, so ask for a little room in their outfits; mention it in your notes and we will tell you what we can leave to let out later.

Husband and wife

Couple outfits work best when they echo rather than copy:

  • His kurta in her dupatta's colour, or in the base colour of her print.
  • Matching embroidery: the same motif on his collar and her neckline.
  • A shared colour family: her in deep green, him in a sage or olive kurta.

The whole family

For Eid or a family wedding, pick a colour story rather than a single outfit:

  • Choose two or three colours that work together (for example ivory, gold and emerald).
  • Let each person choose a silhouette that suits them: grandmother in a comfortable classic shalwar kameez, sisters in shararas, little ones in frocks.
  • Repeat one detail across everyone: the same lace, the same gota border or the same print on dupattas and pocket squares.

Eid matching outfits: think comfort

Eid is a long day: prayers, visits, food and more visits. Choose breathable lawn or cotton for summer Eids and lighter formals for evening dawats. Matching in a soft pastel is very much in fashion for Eid, and it photographs beautifully in daylight.

Wedding matching outfits: think function by function

At weddings, families often match for one function, usually the mehndi or the dholki, and dress individually for the rest. That keeps the matching special and saves money. For ideas for the sisters, see our guide to mehndi outfits for the bride's sisters.

Ordering matching outfits from Pakistan when you live abroad

Ready-made matching sets from brands come in fixed sizes, and rarely in sizes for the whole family, from toddlers to grandparents. Having them stitched to measure in Pakistan solves both problems: every outfit is cut from the same fabric, in the same batch, and fits each person properly.

The hard part is usually collecting everyone's measurements, especially when the family is spread across the UK, the Gulf and North America. That's why we built group orders:

  1. One person describes the occasion, the look and roughly how many outfits.
  2. They get a private link to share on the family WhatsApp group.
  3. Everyone adds their own name, outfit and measurements. Parents can add their children.
  4. We send one quote, stitch everything together in Lahore and ship it in one box.

You can also send an outfit straight to a relative as a gift.

When to order

For a family set, allow 6 to 8 weeks before Eid and 8 to 10 weeks before a wedding. Pakistani workshops are at their busiest before Eid and in the winter wedding season. See our Eid timeline for the details.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get Pakistani family matching outfits?

Some Pakistani brands sell matching sets for mothers and daughters in standard sizes. For the whole family, in exactly the colours you want and sizes that fit, have them stitched to measure from the same fabric.

How do you coordinate family outfits without matching exactly?

Choose a shared colour palette and one repeated detail (a print, a border or a dupatta), and let each person choose a silhouette that suits them.

What should a husband and wife wear for Eid?

Echo rather than copy: his kurta in the colour of her dupatta, or matching embroidery on his collar and her neckline.

How long does it take to stitch matching outfits for a family?

It depends on the number of outfits and the designs. Start 6 to 8 weeks before Eid, or 8 to 10 weeks before a wedding, and we'll confirm the timing when your order is finalised.
